UMRA, or United Methodist Residential Alternatives, was founded in 1994 by a group of advocates from the North Alabama United Methodist Special Camps. UMRA serves the entire community, providing quality family-style housing for adults with developmental disabilities.
The purpose of UMRA is to provide not just a place to live, but a real family where special adults can live as independently as possible with pride and dignity. UMRA currently operates nine homes: six in Decatur and three in Gadsden, as well as a community day training facility in Decatur.
UMRA depends upon charitable donations for many of its residents' needs. To learn more, click on "How You Can Help".
